Here are a few of my Tips to stay on track this season!
1.Drink your water!!!
I know for me this is a tough one and should be so easy!! I feel so much better when I am getting the right amount of water I need! I have more energy, my skin is better, I am regular! So Skip the extra coffee (i know i am sorry) Skip the juices, punches and all those that are full of empty calories and sugars!
Find some alternative drink recipes if you are looking to have a cocktail! A Favorite of mine is the Classic Gin an d tonic but I mix with 3/4 club soda and 1/4 tonic! Add in a couple limes and you are good to go! 🙂
So sometimes indulging isn’t bad, especially if we enjoy it and then get back on track. Because indulging and getting to enjoy can help us not feel deprived so that we stick to our plan.
If instead we don’t allow ourselves to indulge in the holiday cheer, and we start to feel deprived, we will probably end up binging even worse or eating poorly and missing more workouts than we would if we had simply indulged and gotten to enjoy when we wanted to.
Sometimes indulging actually helps keep you on track, especially if you PLAN FOR IT!
2.Eat before you go!
I know we all tend to Save up those calories so we can indulge at night when we get to our party or event! DO NOT do it!! Make sure you are following a balanced diet through the day so you do not over indulge! Yes have that slice of Grandmas pie or extra drink but do not skip eating all day as you will dive in face first and that is not what you want to do! Stick to your plan and just calculate that indulgence into your daily plan! I always tend to have a Shakeology before i am going out! It fills me up with the nutrition my body needs and often times I then do not even care to have those indulgences as i do not have the craving for them!
3. Do not sit Around the food table!
I really do not know why we do this to ourselves but the snacks come out and we tend to gather about the snack table or have them on the table where we sit. Move Away! Grab a plate and then find a new seat so you are not mindlessly eating!
4. Ofer to Bring a Dish!
So many times you go to a gathering or family meal and there is nothing that fits your plan! Offer to bring a dish with you that way you know that there will be something that will help you stay on track to your goals and not feel that overfull meal hangover of rich creamy, carb filled foods that you are not used to eating!
5. Get moving! Do not Skip your workouts!
It is so important to keep your body moving! Go for a walk, do a yoga video, lift weights dance just get yourself moving more! We have many option in our library that will get your heart pumping many are less then 30 minutes! You do not have to spend hours a day in the gym! Grab your kids and have some fun and get everyone included! Who doesn’t like a family dance party!! 🙂
6. Do not Beat yourself up!
Consistency is key and Balance is necessary.
Perfection isn’t important. We are all Human!Life Happens! Sometimes slip ups and unplanned for events, especially around this time of year with all of the temptations and parties, can happen.
And the worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over them or let them lead to binges and guilt and giving up on your goals.
Actually, whether it is the holiday season or any other time of year, the best thing you can learn to do is cut yourself some slack when life happens.
That doesn’t mean to make excuses or to let one little slip up or unplanned for event make you give up on everything. It does mean, however, that you can indulge and enjoy and just accept that sometimes life happens, Get over it and move on!
Life is way to short to sit and dwell on things.
7. Set Realistic Goals
This ties in with the do not beat yourself up! We still need to set goals for December just like any other time of the year! But your December goal might not be to lose 10lbs it might mean to stick to your plan and do 5 workouts a week while you follow a 80/20 rule and just maintain over the holiday. Do not set yourself up for failure but set yourself a goal that still makes you work! 🙂 Small changes add up to big results so use your daily goals as a way to help instill healthy habits. So we do to need to set the goal to eat only veggies and proteins it can be as simple as making a goal to drink a glass of water as soon as you wake every morning! Park further from the stores when shopping so you have more of a walk! Make these little things become habit and you will be amazed! 🙂
